The Clinical Laboratory in Saint Joseph Hospital provides excellent healthcare services to its patients. We provide an extensive range of diagnostic laboratory testing for inpatients and outpatients. The lab works around the clock throughout the year with an annual number of 300,000 tests. The lab works under strict quality assurance standards that assure the best quality of lab results. To further improve the quality of lab results, the lab is participating with the College of American Pathology for external quality control.

Our lab staff have a high level of expertise with many with at least fifteen years of experience within their specialty. Most of the lab staff participate in continuing education that expands their professional knowledge base and contributes to their work in the lab.

Services offered by the lab:

• Outpatient specimen collection: Hospital outpatient specimen collection service is provided in the main lab. The lab operates from Monday to Sunday, 7:00AM to 8:00 PM
• Central Clinical Lab: The central clinical lab is an automated, mid-volume lab that provides STAT and routine testing in Hematology and Coagulation, Clinical chemistry, Clinical microscopy, Immunology and Clinical Endocrinology.
• Microbiology lab: The microbiology lab covers mainly Bacteriology testing. The lab isolates and identifies clinically significant microorganisms from clinical samples and performs antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
• Blood Bank: A 24-hour Blood bank was established and licensed by the Ministry of Health to provide medical, surgical, obstetrics and gynecology patients with safe transfusion medicine.
